💡 Aim 10–15% over the minimum — consulates use their own exchange rate, so applicants who exactly hit the number often get rejected. Income path = 6 months of statements; savings path = 12 months averaging ~US$4,300 or one statement ~US$73,000+.
How it works
Apply at a Mexican consulate outside Mexico (not as a tourist inside). Within 30 days of arriving, swap the visa for a residency card at INM (~US$280 for 1 year, ~US$500 for 4 years). Each dependent needs ~US$1,434/month extra. Working for a Mexican employer needs a separate work permit.
